527 Madison Avenue is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Elisabeth Condon in the Lobby Gallery from January 30 - May 3, 2019. Located at 54th Street and Madison Avenue, the show is open to the public 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday. This will be the fifteenth exhibition in 527 Madison’s ongoing program showcasing noteworthy emerging and mid-career artists.
The exhibition will feature four of Condon’s signature multi-layered paintings which combine a diverse group of influences. Imagery from Yuan Dynasty scrolls, vintage wallpapers, post-war abstraction, and glam rock are commingled despite their historic differences. Her carefully poured abstracts are superimposed with lush renderings of birds and flowers––a motif which references classical Chinese painting techniques learned during the artist’s numerous residencies in China.
Condon holds a BFA from the Otis Art Institute of Parson’s School of Design, and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the recipient of numerous awards, and has work in a number of collections worldwide. She currently lives and works in New York.
