450 Park Avenue’s next exhibition will feature paintings by Sofia Echa in the lobby gallery from October 16, 2018 - January 18, 2019. An evening reception and walkthrough of the exhibition led by the artist will be held on October 24, 2018 from 5–7PM. This will be the sixth show the building has mounted as part of it’s program of rotating exhibitions of contemporary art.
The Russian-born artist creates landscape-driven abstractions where luminosity is the primary concern. She generates light within her work in traditional ways, such as through the gradation and tinting of color, but also through painting on reflective metal. Echa studied art at the National Academy School of Fine Arts in New York. Her work has been included in numerous shows in New York, and one of her paintings was recently sold in the “New Now” auction at Phillips Auctions, the anchor tenant at 450 Park Avenue.
